Planning a Quinceanera celebration is a bigger challenge than most people realize until it's too
Yes, you can avoid all the upset, last minute crises and I'm sure some screaming and yelling. All this isn't good for anyone, let alone if you're planning to be the Princess at your own gala party.
Secret # 1- Sit down with your mother and father (or guardian) and discuss all your ideas and dreams you have about your special day.
Secret # 2- Listen to what they have to say about their own thoughts, dreams and ideas. Don't comment until they are finished sharing. It's time for everyone involved to come to an agreement regarding what will work and won't work in order for everyone to be happy.
Secret # 3- Be grateful with whatever celebration they are going to give you. It's not the amount of money that is going to be spent on your Quinceanera Celebration. It's about the meaning of the Hispanic tradition of celebrating your right of passage and being honored for who you are, as you make your transition from a girl to a young woman.
Secret # 4- Start to plan your party as early as possible. If you have a large budget it's best to start at least one year ahead of your birthday. It's best to set up your own Quinceanera Planner and workbook. This will save you and your mom from having lots of stress and you will also save money by avoiding last minute mistakes.
Secret #5- One of the most important areas of the planning stage for the Quinceanera, is choosing her special dress that she will wear. There are so many choices out there it sure can be over-whelming. A good place to start is to look at magazines and online. You need to think about a few things when choosing your special Quinceanera dress/gown.
-What is your favorite color and what color do you look the best in?
-What style is the most flattering for you?
-What style will photograph the best? It's a good idea to discuss this with a photographer.
-You now have some guidelines to start your research and go shopping. Have fun!
Secret #6-Ask your friends and friends mom's whose daughters have had their own Quinceanera Celebration: what vendors would they recommend? Who would they use again? This can apply to photographers, videographers, musicians, florist, venues, caterers, party planners etc.
Secret #7- Check out all referrals if they appear to be a possibility. Have you and your mom listen to a DJ or live band when they are performing at an event. Check out the leader who would be your Master of Ceremonies. Do you feel comfortable with them? The right Master of Ceremonies can make a party great, but a second rate - Master of Ceremonies can ruin your party. And many times your guests will leave early.
You and your mom's choices are very important. Take your time before you commit and sign a contract.
It's your day! One of the most important days of your life.
